Saunders first received instruction on how to handle the potent 550-horsepower, V8-equipped super SUV from Minna Sillankorva, a former rally race champion from Finland and a driving instructor for the Land Rover Experience program. With a little help from the 2016 Range Rover Sport SVR model’s tuned chassis and Dynamic Response system, its ideal balance, and its capable full-time four-wheel drive system with both low and high ranges, Saunders was able to take on the icy racetrack on the frozen lake with confidence and composure.
“Obviously, I had an amazing day,” Saunders told reporters. “It was my first time driving on ice and the most fun I’ve had on four-wheels. The performance of the Range Rover Sport SVR is simply breathtaking and its poise in the corners was astounding given the slippery conditions.”
