How to Stay Accident-Free
The best of drivers can fall prey to some of the simplest mistakes on the road that cost them a car part or their entire vehicle. Save yourself the additional cost. For the past decade, research has shown that approximately 6.3 million car crashes take place on our roadways. To stay accident-free and avoid becoming a statistic, be mindful of these three tips:
Humility surpasses confidence on the road. It does not matter if your car has guaranteed safety features, as the driver you have a responsibility to be extra careful on the road. Safety practices never get old. Do not get too confident after a numbers of accident-free years. You are still not an expert!
Say NO to distractions
Once again you are not an expert. You should be focused on the road, not the cell phone and the Ipad. A study conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation instituted found that distracted driving is the cause of at least 80 percent of car crashes.
Junk in the trunk
Minimize the amount of things laying on the dashboard and on the car seats. If there is a need to make a sudden stop, all of these things can fly straight to the windscreen, blocking your view and may even cause a car crash. Put the extra luggage, papers, books and utensils in the trunk. After all that is the primary storage compartment of the car.
It is very important that drivers make it a habit to practice responsible driving practices not only for their personal safety but for the safety of the passengers in their vehicles.
