LR2 or LR4: Which is Right for You?
As you probably already know, Land Rover has quite a few great SUVs to choose from. Whether you are looking for something sporty or sleek, you have plenty of options from the compactness of the Evoque to the terrain conquering capabilities of the Range Rover. For drivers looking for an SUV in the British car maker’s leisure class, you have a choice between the LR2 or the LR4, but which one of these 2014 models is right for you? That depends on what you’re looking for.
For the basics, the LR4 features an engine that delivers 340 HP with 90.3 cubic feet of cargo space and three rows of seats. Land Rover also boasts that the LR4 can go from zero to sixty in 6.9 seconds. If you are looking for enhanced power and speed, then the LR4 can meet these demands. If fuel efficiency is important to you, which it does for many of us, then you will probably lean in favor of the LR2.
Caranddriver.com states that the LR2’s new engine has certainly improved over its previous models with 15 city mpg and 22 on the highway. Good news for the LR4, however, is that the 2014 model has seen a replacement of the previously used 5.0 liter, V-8 engine. The new supercharged 3.0 V6 provides for 17 mpg in combined driving which is a definite improvement.
If you’re looking for a vehicle to take on off-road expeditions, the LR2 has a ground clearance of 8.3 inches making it good for hugging the road and trails. Of course, if you need to carry a lot of cargo along the way, then the LR4 has more storage capacity. But in all honest, you really can’t go wrong with either of these two fine Land Rover models.
