Range Rover Continues Journey of Innovation
The Range Rover is a popular model of luxury SUV manufactured by the iconic British car maker. Land Rover has been producing this class of large four-wheel drive sports utility vehicles since 1970. That’s over four decades of design and performance innovations that have successfully brought the Range Rover to its fourth generation. Land Rover produces three models under its Range Rover sub-brand in the United States, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and the Range Rover Evoque.
The Range Rover Sport made its public debut in 2004. Originally called the Range Stormer, the Sport has evolved from a three door to a five door coupe. Despite a few changes and streamlines to the overall system, the Sport has retained much of its signature sporty look as well as its rugged, off-road capabilities. What has changed about this particular model over the years, especially in its recent 2014 update, is its decrease in weight. With an eye on handling and fuel efficiency, Land Rover has made the Sport a lighter vehicle, while still retaining power with a supercharged 3.0 liter V-6 engine.
Newer to the market is the Range Rover Evoque which has proven to be a popular model for Land Rover. The Evoque has received a number of awards for design and performance and is available in both a two-wheel and four-wheel drive format. The Evoque, while still very much a sports utility vehicle, was designed as a more compact luxury crossover with city and highway driving in mind.
The dirt and mud, for which Land Rover vehicles were originally designed for back in the 1950s, isn’t really the intended track for this more upscale offspring. The Evoque has not only been popular with automotive critics, it has also been popular with car buyers who helped make it one of the fastest selling models in Land Rover’s history.
The Evoque and the Sport are two great options for your next luxury crossover or sports utility vehicle. Not sure which one is the right Range Rover for you? Visit Land Rover Hinsdale at 300 East Ogden Avenue in Hinsdale, IL and talk to a professional salesperson to learn more.
